چکیده

This paper proposes a short packet GFDM-based physical (PHY) layer for industrial wireless networks to reduce latency. In our proposed PHY layer, the conventional OFDM scheme used in data field of IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards is replaced by GFDM. The preamble size also reduced from 10 symbols 1 symbol. Furthermore, fields overall structure are optimized terms total number subcarriers and cyclic prefix length. Additionally, noise-free GFDM subjected concatenated channel coding minimize error rate. Through simulation, transmission time about 40 ∼ 72% compared OFDM-based while achieving PER order 10−3. obtained results show that outperforms its counterpart exhibiting lower latency high reliability. performance renders (proposed) suitable adoption development reliability constrained applications. It should be noted simulations presented this express first step direction using achieve low We therefore consider building fully functional based-testbed as part future work.

GFDM Frame Design For 5G Application Scenarios

The services foreseen for 5G networks will demand a vast number of challenging requirements to be fulfilled by the physical layer. These services can be grouped into application scenarios, each one with a key requirement to be addressed by the 5G network. A flexible waveform associated with a appropriate data frame is an essential feature in order to guarantee the support of contrasting require...

Low Complexity Transceiver Design for GFDM

Due to its attractive properties, generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) is recently being discussed as a candidate waveform for the fifth generation of wireless communication systems (5G). GFDM is introduced as a generalized form of the widely used orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation scheme and since it uses only one cyclic prefix (CP) for a group of symbol...

Reliable and Low Latency Transmission in Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks

The major advantages with Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks (IWSNs) in process automation are cable cost reduction, enhanced flexibility and enabling new emerging applications such as wireless control. However, transmission over the wireless channel is prone to noise and interference which causes packets to be erroneous received at the receiver node. To improve the link reliability in lossy c...

Improving IEEE 802.15.4 for Low-Latency Energy-Efficient Industrial Applications

The IEEE 802.15.4 standard for LR-WPANs is becoming a de-facto standard for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) applications in industrial fields. In this paper, we evaluate the latency performance of the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol based on a typical industrial scenario: a star network with 20 devices that send short messages (1 Byte) to the PAN coordinator. We analyzed the behavior of the GTS mechanis...

Predictive Pre-allocation for Low-latency Uplink Access in Industrial Wireless Networks

Driven by mission-critical applications in modern industrial systems, the 5th generation (5G) communication system is expected to provide ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) services to meet the quality of service (QoS) demands of industrial applications. However, these stringent requirements cannot be guaranteed by its conventional dynamic access scheme due to the complex signali...
